Silver boots. Brazilian gold. The Nike Mercurial Vapor I RGN "Chrome Lime" R9 brings back the design made famous by Ronaldo Nazário during Brazil's victorious 2002 World Cup campaign. Released in 2024, 22 years after the original, this revival recreates the chrome base, lime accents and black branding that defined one of the Mercurial's most recognisable looks. The compact tongue carries the R9 identity, a reminder of the player at the centre of its story.
This is a regeneration, not an unchanged 2002 boot. Nike recreated the original upper design and paired it with the Air Zoom Mercurial Vapor XVI soleplate, bringing contemporary tooling beneath the heritage silhouette. This Firm Ground (FG) version is intended for firm natural-grass pitches. The low-cut shape and flowing side detailing preserve the visual character of the original while the modern soleplate distinguishes the remake from its predecessor.
