The Nike Mercurial Vapor V arrived in 2008 as the natural evolution of the legendary Vapor IV, refining the speed boot formula that had already made the Mercurial line the benchmark for elite performance footwear. The Vapor V retained the razor-thin Teijin microfibre upper and asymmetric lacing system of its predecessor while introducing a revised carbon fibre soleplate for improved traction and energy return.

This particular example is a Sample — a pre-production or internal colourway that never reached general retail. Sample boots are among the most coveted pieces in football boot collecting, representing a unique window into Nike's design and testing process. The SG (Soft Ground) configuration features conical metal studs engineered for natural grass surfaces.
